Clay Texture Owls by Grade 2
Grade 8 students created these beautiful clay tiles. They learned the slab technique, texturing and attaching pieces of clay. They glazed and fired them in the kiln. Very Successful pieces!

Students in Grades 3 and 4 learned about the sculpture artist Alexander Calder. He is known for inventing the mobile, but also made intricate wire sculptures of faces of people on the streets of Paris. Students tried their hand at making a wire pipe cleaner face.

Where has the school year gone?! We have flown through fall and are well into winter and our second term of art. Students in Grades 3 and 4 just finished these beautiful Winter Birch Watercolors inspired by the birch trees around the Lyndon Town School Campus.
Young artists learned several watercolor techniques while creating these beautiful paintings.

Technology in the Art Room

Middle School students are using their computers to make art! They are exploring digital drawing and painting, photo manipulation and animation. They learn to use online editing software like Sumo Paint and Pixlr and Imovie to create animations.

Middle school students learned how images are made on a computer using pixels. They looked at ancient mosaics to understand how mosaic art is similar to pixel images. They drew pixelated drawing then created  their own mosaics  using  colored clay tiles.
